Augmented Reality Guidance Based on 6D Positioning & HD Lanes
What You'll Learn In This White Paper:
Automated and autonomous driving (AD) are automotive industry megatrends that will ultimately make driving more convenient, and safe. To achieve this end, connected cars are being equipped with HD maps and costly sensors. Despite huge improvements in the AD domain, the majority of driving is still done manually. In this paper, we show how modern navigation systems combine state-of-the-art computer vision with available vehicle sensors for safe navigation even if the AD car is outside of its Operational Design Domain (ODD).
This paper outlines how visual-inertial odometry, combined with HD lane and landmark information, leads to a precise 6 Degree of Freedom (DoF) pose. This pose is key for projecting navigation and guidance context precisely into an augmented reality (AR) scene.
The section "HD positioning based on visual inertial odometry" describes Artisense's contribution in the collaboration with NNG and HERE Technologies.
